Biography

Christopher Skeete holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Concordia University and a master’s degree in business administration from the Université du Québec à Montréal. His career combines political expertise, a flair for entrepreneurial innovation, and the ability to navigate sensitive cultural and geopolitical issues. He began his career as a federal peace officer, then specialized in developing national security policy in Ottawa. Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, he founded a company in the health sector and became actively involved with the Laval Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where he served as Vice-President of the young entrepreneurs’ network. Active in politics for over twenty years and a founding member of the Coalition Avenir Québec, he was elected Member of the National Assembly for Sainte-Rose in 2018. He was appointed Parliamentary Assistant to the Premier for Relations with English-Speaking Quebecers, as well as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister Responsible for the Fight Against Racism. In 2022, he became Minister for the Economy, steering files such as the promotion of innovation, the growth of SMEs, the opening of internal trade, the promotion of local purchasing, and regulatory streamlining, contributing to a more agile and productive Quebec economy. On September 10, 2025, he was appointed Minister of International Relations and La Francophonie, while retaining his responsibilities related to relations with English-speaking Quebecers. This role reinforces his position as a bridge between Quebec’s linguistic communities and international partners. In a complex geopolitical context, Mr. Skeete integrates his economic vision into the government’s international action, ensuring the influence of Quebec’s identity and values, the defence of the nation’s interests, and the promotion of an influential, inclusive Francophonie attuned to a world transforming before our eyes.
